The Mac OS X platform is famous for being well supported in audio and video, with many professional software dedicated to multimedia. In the video industry we have already seen the best 5 players for Mac: we are still expanding this sector with 6 software for video editing, more or less professional to choose the one that best suits our needs. In general all the software are quite functional, being able to use them both in a basic and advanced way without major problems with a minimum of user experience.
1. iMovie
The first software is one of the most famous, made directly by Apple: iMovie. This application, included in the iLife software package included in every new Mac, allows a good basic video editing, offering controls and management of the most simple and easy to handle traces; However, it does not offer advanced tools so we can recommend it to those who only want to edit some videos occasionally without big claims and quickly and easily. In any case, surely one of the best software for simplicity and interface.
2. Blender
If iMovie is probably the simplest and most intuitive video editing software, the exact opposite can be represented by Blender: a really advanced and complicated software to use at least at the beginning. Blender offers 3D modeling and advanced tools that can satisfy the most experienced users in the field of video editing; the project is opensource and there are many tutorials on the web to start using the app.
3. Kdenlive
Kdenlive is a new software for Mac but well known in the Linux environment where it has existed for some time; a recent fundraising has allowed the developer to carry out a port for Mac OS X: we therefore have the opportunity to exploit a good video editing software, still quite basic but that promises great things being still at the beginning of its development.
4. Jahshaka
Formerly known as CineFX, Jahshaka is another excellent open source video editing software for Mac OS X. The app is well-developed for post-production editing, offering many effects and corrections; the software is a good interlude between the basic and the advanced, offering many features that are not found in other editors. The application is a good alternative to be clear to Adobe After Effects.
5. VideoLan Movie Creator
The VideoLan team does not stop at the development of the famous VLC player: here is another interesting video editor also available for Mac OS X. The development is a bit ‘irregular last time but already the last build available offers a good editing video without big claims; in terms of functionality and interface we can compare it to iMovie, even if the whole application needs different tweaks. https://internetheavy517.weebly.com/audio-sample-management-software-mac.html. We hope the project can go further and get to know a more intense development.
6. Avidemux
The latest software on our list is Avidemux: another known software initially for Linux today also present for Mac OS X. The application offers a rather basic editing but supports a wide range of formats and coded both audio and video; the interface is old-fashioned but is very functional and simple. Nothing advanced then, a basic software that offers a simple and fast editing for a user without big claims.
Before my shift to using macOS as my daily work operating system, I was using a myriad of GNU/Linux platforms. Linux (as well as FreeBSD and OpenBSD, upon which macOS is built) provided me with easy access to the various open source software via a package manager.
What is a package manager
A package manager is a command line tool that gives me access to a myriad of pre-built (or sometimes to source code if desired) software packages to install and download on my computer. I could open a terminal and simply type in a command to tell the package manager to download and install any freely available open source software my heart (and requirements) desired.
Homebrew will 'install the stuff you need that Apple didn't.'
Although macOS has the App Store, it's not a repository of my favorite open source software (at least not in their raw unadulterated forms). Things like mplayer, wget, and gcc aren't in the App Store and searching for or building the source code for a package can become onerous.
This is where Homebrew for macOS saves the day! Does mac pro come with anti virus software.
What is Homebrew
Homebrew touts itself as 'the missing package manager for macOS' and that it will 'install the stuff you need that Apple didn't.' Once installed on your Mac, you'll have access to hundreds of open source packages ready for you at your fingertips. Need to download a youtube video? Open a command prompt and type 'brew install youtube-dl'. Need to cross-compile for another platform? Type in 'brew install gcc'. Want to play Windows PC based games on macOS? Type in 'brew install wine'. It's that easy.
Installing Homebrew
Installing Homebrew also couldn't be easier.
Wait for the download to start and for the installer to finish. That's it!

There are hundreds of apps to choose from. For example, let's say I wanted to install a lightweight torrent client like Transmission. Here's how to do it.
Open Source Cad Software Mac Os X
That's it! Super fast and easy.
Final comments
With the amazing graphical interface Apple made on top of its BSD underpinnings, it's easy to forget the power that the UNIX command line can provide. It's flexible and fast with an incredible amount of free software that can turn any user into a power user. Do you think the App Store should rollout open source software packages into its scope? Is having third-party package managers such as Homebrew the better option? Lets us know your thoughts in the comments!
